This sword is equipped with a white blade, black guard, black handle, and black pommel. The design of the blades allows them to flex in the last one-third of their length towards the tip, making thrusting much safer compared to conventional wooden wasters or shinai. To reinforce the blade/tang joint, a high tensile steel rod runs along the full length of the handle, eliminating the handle flex typically associated with plastic training swords. Additionally, these synthetic-bladed swords are an excellent option for theatrical use, as they are inherently safer than steel or aluminum. Red Dragon offers a variety of interchangeable parts, providing an economical means to create many different styles of swords on a single blade. The ball-shaped quillon finials and rounded pommels of the longsword and single-hand sword are designed for sparring safety, as are the pommel and basket of the basket-hilt sword. The grips, made from a rubber-like thermoplastic elastomer, are designed to absorb the impact of strikes and provide a tight fit on the tang. These synthetic-bladed swords are also an excellent option for theatrical use. Overall, the sword features a 48 1/2" blade length, 38" handle length, 10 1/4" weight, and a point of balance at 6".
