This process involves using an alloy of various metals, including silver, mixed with sulfur, which is then rubbed into an incised pattern and fired. The result is a decorative effect where the alloy remains black within the engravings, while the rest of the surface is polished to a bright finish. CAS Hanwei's decorating process achieves a lustrous, permanent Niello-like effect.

Each spearhead has a shaft diameter of 1”. While these spearheads can be displayed beautifully on their own, attaching them to a pole can add authenticity and create a visually impressive highlight in Viking decor. Additionally, when paired with a pole, this spearhead makes a perfect prop piece for film, theatre, or authentic costuming. However, it's important to note that a correct size pole for this model is currently not available. The XH2039 requires a thinner, lighter shaft, similar to the ones found in the originals.
