Hanwei - Wakizashi Golden Oriole

The Wakizashi Golden Oriole by Paul Chen/Hanwei is a favorite among admirers of Japanese swords, thanks to its simple and elegant lines. The tsuba tells a story of a mantis stealthily stalking a cricket, while unknowingly being stalked by a golden oriole. The blade is hand-forged from high-carbon steel and differentially hardened to display a distinctive hamon. The deeply lacquered blue of the saya can also be found on the Japanese cotton tsuka-ito, and a cricket motif is featured on the kashira. Each Wakizashi comes with a custom-made cloth pouch for proper protection and a Japanese blade maintenance kit. The rockwell hardness is approximately 60 HRC (edge) and approximately 40 HRC (back). The overall length is approximately 69.9 cm, and it weighs about 737 g. The break-even point is approximately 10.2 cm from the protection, and the blade material is high carbon steel T10.
