Tinker Viking Sword with Sharp Blade by Hanwei

Michael Tinker Pearce, who has designed a range of Hanwei swords made of 5160 steel, combines authenticity, functionality, and performance. To meet the demands of Western martial artists, there are both sharp and blunt versions of each sword, all of which offer excellent handling. Tinker prefers careful heat treatment of 5160 steel, using hot bath hardening (also known as marquenching), resulting in an excellent combination of strength and flexibility with a Rockwell hardness of 50-52 HRC. This allows for increased edge strength with sharp blades, while the blunt models prevent burr formation and ensure flexibility for tip safety.

Inspired by historical models of the ninth century, this Viking sword is not a direct copy of a specific sword. Particularly in Trondheim, Norway, swords were found with a preference for circular notches in handle decorations. The attachment points and an elegant scabbard give the sword an attractive look. The Viking swords in the Tinker series differ from the others, as the riveting of the pommel and blade of the blunt version is more geared towards exhibition combat than training. Spare blades are still available separately for fencers with the necessary knowledge to replace the riveted blades, just like with all the other swords in this series. The handling of both versions of this sword (sharp or blunt) is nearly identical.
