CAS Hanwei Koi Katana Japanese Sword

The hand-forged T10 high-carbon steel blade of the Koi Katana from Paul Chen is exemplary. Using the traditional claying method, the blade is differentially hardened. This Katana is mounted in black and white, with black same and premium white Japanese cotton tsuka-ito. The saya is finished in deep black lacquer with a black and white striped cotton sageo. The black iron tsuba features a finely rendered Koi with front-and-back detail, while the fittings are superbly antiqued, adding to the overall aesthetics of this piece. Along with its traditional construction, the Koi Katana from Hanwei is also supplied with a protective cloth bag. Legend has it that a Koi exhibits bravery similar to that of a samurai warrior as it swims up rivers and climbs waterfalls. Furthermore, if a Koi is caught, it will bravely face its death like a samurai facing a sword. With an overall length of 44 3/4", a blade length of 28 1/2", a handle length of 14 3/4", and a weight of 2lb 13oz, this katana is built for cutting. Its point of balance is 5 1/4" and it has a sori of 1 1/8". The blade steel is T10 forged high-carbon steel.
