CAS Hanwei Oda Nobunaga Katana SH24970

Oda Nobunaga, an influential Daimyo in 16th century Feudal Japan, is a legendary figure. Hanwei, a well-known designer, has crafted a tribute to him in the form of a 27" katana. This sword is made with a forged steel blade featuring a prominent hamon and hi, making it both quick and light at 2 lbs 6 oz. The blade boasts a beautiful curved symmetry from the 1" kissaki to the kashira.

The tsuba, a classic Hanwei design, bears the likeness and Mon of Oda Nobunaga on the front, with a depiction of two soldiers with Yari subduing an enemy on the blade side. The fuchi is embossed with a gold flintlock and powder bag, paying homage to Oda's fondness for tanegashima firearms. Additionally, a finely detailed rendering of Oda's kabuto (helmet) is embossed in silver and gold.

The 11 1/2" tsuka is wrapped in green Japanese cotton over black dyed same (Ray skin), with the Nobunaga Mon in silver and gold as well. The deep green lacquered saya, along with the black cotton sageo and Buffalo horn kurikata and kojiri, ties the whole piece together. This katana is the crown jewel in the new Generals Series by Hanwei and is a must-have for any Japanese motif on a display stand, especially when paired with the Oda Nobunaga kabuto (Ah2083).

Overall, the katana measures 39 5/8". The blade length is 27", and the handle length is 11 1/2". The blade is made of T10 steel with an HRc edge of 60 and a back HRc of 40. It also features a green handle wrapped over black same, and a deep green lacquered saya. Themed around the legendary samurai Oda Nobunaga, this katana is a fitting tribute to a powerful figure in Japanese history.
